Standard Metal Works is an ornamental fabrication shop,
specializing in, but not limited to, gates, railings and
furniture.  While Standard’s current iteration is relatively
new, its roots are old. Shortly before the start of WWI,
the Reynolds family started Standard Machine Shop,
located at 10th and Walnut here in Boulder. There, for
nearly 70 years,  they built everything from farm implements
to parts for Apollo spacecraft. Merle Reynolds walked from
his home on Mapleton Hill to work at his shop every day
well into his 80s, and was as hardworking and honest man
as they come.  Doing our best to follow the examples of
our forefathers, we run an honest shop and produce only
quality work.
